ommatidium (with Doa01705b)
The wings of Doa7/Doa9 mutant flies exhibit a held-out phenotype.
Doa7/DoaE786 mutants exhibit defects in the mesothoracic tarsi.
Doa7/Doa3 mutants where the Doa7 allele is from the mother are viable. When the Doa3 allele comes from the mother there are no survivors.
In Doa7/Doa5 mutants where the Doa7 allele is from the mother only the males survive and they have held-out and fragile wings, ectopic crossveins, missing scutellar bristles. When the Doa5 allele comes from the mother there are no survivors.
In Doa7/Doa9 mutants where the Doa7 allele is from the mother it is predominantly males that are observed. These have rough eyes, held-out and fragile wings, duplication of the postalar bristles, missing scutellar or ocellar bristles, slight sexual transformations of females and disorganisation of the vaginal bristles. When the Doa9 allele comes from the mother there are no survivors.
In Doa7/DoaE777 mutants where the Doa7 allele is from the mother only the males survive and the flies have held-out wings and duplication of the postalar bristles. When the DoaE777 allele comes from the mother there are no survivors.
In Doa7/Doa04743 mutants where the Doa7 allele is from the mother only males are observed. These have extremely rough eyes, ectopic wing veins, missing head, scutellar and thoracic bristles. When the Doa04743 allele comes from the mother there are no survivors.
Transheterozygotes with Doa01705b have rough eyes and duplicated scutellar bristles.
XX ; Doa7/DoaDem and XX ; Doaunspecified/Doa7 adults have subtle intersexual characteristics.
Doa7/DoaDem, Srrm1B103 has abnormal sex-determination phenotype
Doa7, E(gl)3Cunspecified has viable phenotype
Doa7, E(gl)3Cunspecified has fertile phenotype
Doa7, traunspecified has abnormal sex-determination | female phenotype
Doa7, tra2B has abnormal sex-determination | female phenotype
Doa7/Doaunspecified, traunspecified has abnormal sex-determination | dominant | female phenotype
Doa7/Doaunspecified, tra2B has abnormal sex-determination | dominant | female phenotype
Doa7, traunspecified has leg | female phenotype
Doa7/Doaunspecified, traunspecified has leg | female phenotype
Doa7/Doaunspecified, tra2B has leg | female phenotype
SRm160B103 produces a female to male somatic sex transformation phenotype in DoaHD/Doa7 mutant flies. The male genital arch and "claspers" are seen in XX individuals.
Doa7 in combination with E(gl)3Cunspecified results in flies with normal eyes, wings and bristles. No suppression of wa is seen in these flies.
Heterozygous traunspecified/+ adults have normal sexual differentiation. XX ; traunspecified/+ adults that are also carrying Doaunspecified/Doa7 are clearly intersexual with respect to the number or morphology of sex combs. Heterozygous tra2B/+ adults have normal sexual differentiation. XX ; tra2B/+ adults that are also carrying Doaunspecified/Doa7 are clearly intersexual with respect to the number or morphology of sex combs.
Rare DoaHD/Doa7 escapers show extreme suppression of the wa phenotype, such that eyes, Malpighian tubules, ocelli and testes are essentially wild-type in colour. They have disordered eye facets and scutellar bristles are often missing or abnormal. Male escapers carrying wsp55 have bleach-white eyes.
