Point mutation.
Point mutation in the structural portion of w.
Homozygotes have reddy-orange eyes with only 28% red pigment (compared to 100% pigment in wild type).
Eye colour: orange-brown.

wa3, g53d male mutants have lower amounts of pigment in the eye than wa3 single mutants, although the effect is not strong enough to change the colour of the eye, as is the case for many other g53d, w allele mutants. wa3, g2/Y mutant flies have similar levels of red pigment in the eye to wa3 single mutants and a slight decrease in red pigment compared to g2 single mutants. Additionally, wa3, g50e/Y double mutant flies have similar levels of red pigment in the eye to g50e single mutants.
The eye colour phenotype is not affected by Rga03834.
