Transheterozygotes with Df(3R)ry27 produce very few adult progeny and those that survive have head defects that resemble those observed by in extreme Dfd mutants. This effect is due to an uncharacterised genetic element on the Df(3R)ry27 chromosome.
Transheterozygotes with wa have light eyes.
X ray induced revertants are recovered, some are nulls. Null alleles are recessive lethal indicating that B52 is required for viability.
Mutation has no effect on the eye colour of wa2 or wa3.
