Homozygous males are darker than homozygous females. Triple X metafemale individuals homozygous for wbl have pigment levels near the normal intensity of wbl homozygous XX females.

Temperature sensitivity greatest 40-48 hr after pupation.

Eye colour: yellowish-ruby, later se-like; female lighter than male; at 19oC as dark as pn1; at 30oC, as light as wbf or wi. Testis colour: colourless. Malpighian tubule colour: pale yellow at 25oC.
