Description

Insertion of an I-element.

A full length I-element is inserted into the 5th intron at position -1448 (FBrf0041384). The transcriptional orientation of the I-element is opposite to that of the w locus.

Insertion into non-translated region of the w gene.

Antiparallel I-element insertion into intron 5.

I element insertion.

An I-element maps either at the site of mutation or within less than 0.02 map units.

5.4kb I-element insertion map site (kb): -1.45; Origin = insertion of wa copia; '-' values to left (telomere) end; '+' values to right (centromere) end.

Comments
Comments

Somewhat unstable under IR dysgenic conditions.

Used to test PCR amplification between gene-specific primers and I-element primers.

The I-element insertion in wIR1 interferes with the normal processing of w gene transcripts.
