Trl13C/Trl62 females have a similar viability to homozygotes, males show a significantly reduced viability.

Most homozygotes die as third instar larvae.

Lethality occurs at metamorphosis.

brm2 shows little if any interaction in double heterozygous combination with Trl62; less than 3% of flies have held-out wings.

Enhances the position effect variegation at the w locus caused by In(1)wm4 and enhances the position effect variegation at the bw locus caused by In(2R)bwVDe2. Does not enhance position effect variegation at the bw locus caused by Byron or the position effect variegation of w seen in the P{wAR}41A insertion.

Transheterozygotes with Trl13C are even less viable than Trl13C homozygotes.

Moderate enhancer of position effect variegation. Heterozygotes with Trl13C eclose late, are poorly viable and exhibit the same phenotypes as Trl13C homozygotes.

Enhances variegation of In(1)wm4h.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Mutant weakly suppresses the CycEJP rough eye phenotype.

Mutant heterozygotes show a weak enhancement of the eye phenotype see in P{UAS-lacZ.Abd-B.5F24} leading to lighter eyes.

The frequency of homeotic transformations seen in heterozygotes is increased in double heterozygous combination with mod(mdg4)ul or mod(mdg4)T16. Dominantly enhances the effect of mod(mdg4)ul on the y2 phenotype.

The formation of extra sex combs on the second and third legs in Pc4/+ flies is not enhanced by Trl62.

The lethality caused by sevS11.T:Hsap\MYC in combination with Ras85DV12.sev is suppressed by Trl62.

Weak enhancer. High spontaneous background rate of E(var) mutations in these experiments allows for the possibility that the P insertion is not the cause of the E(var) phenotype.

Attempts to make germ-line clones with this allele failed.
