mod(mdg4)Z3-3401/mod(mdg4)T16 males show a low frequency of 4th chromosome loss in meiosis (7.9%).

Homologous pairing in pre-meiotic spermatogonia and in early prophase I spermatocytes appears normal in mod(mdg4)Z3-3401/mod(mdg4)T16 males.

    Body colour: y2 ; mod(mdg4)T6/mod(mdg4)T16 and y2 ; mod(mdg4)Z3-3401/mod(mdg4)T16 flies have a y- phenotype (yellow bristles, wings and bodies).

Body colour: the y2 phenotype (black bristles, yellow body and wings) is not altered by mod(mdg4)Z3-5578/mod(mdg4)T16.

mod(mdg4)T16 trxB11 double heterozygotes show a transformation of haltere to wing in 1.4% of cases. mod(mdg4)T16/+ or trxB11/+ single heterozygotes do not show this homeotic transformation. Increases the frequency of homeotic transformations seen in Trl62 heterozygotes. Increases the frequency of homeotic transformations seen in trxB11 ash117 double heterozygotes. Increases the frequency of homeotic transformations seen in trxE2 brm2 double heterozygotes. Dominantly suppresses the frequency and severity of homeotic transformations seen in Df(3L)Pc heterozygotes.

The lethal phenotype of mod(mdg4)T16 is fully complemented by mod(mdg4)Z3-3401, mod(mdg4)Z3-5578 and mod(mdg4)Z3-3298, but mod(mdg4)T16 fails to complement these alleles with respect to X-Y chromosome nondisjunction in male meiosis - the transheterozygotes show a high level of X-Y nondisjunction (frequency is indicated in parentheses after each allele); mod(mdg4)Z3-3401 (39.6%), mod(mdg4)Z3-5578 (44.3%) and mod(mdg4)Z3-3298 (44.6%).
