Included within a 7.5kb BamHI fragment which encompasses the 5' region of mod(mdg4), including exons 1-4 which encode the common 402 amino acids.
mod(mdg4)+t7.5 partially rescues mod(mdg4)neo129
mod(mdg4)+t7.5 partially rescues mod(mdg4)Z3-3401
mod(mdg4)+t7.5 partially rescues mod(mdg4)Z3-3401/mod(mdg4)T16
mod(mdg4)+t7.5 partially rescues mod(mdg4)02
mod(mdg4)+t7.5 partially rescues mod(mdg4)neo129
mod(mdg4)+t7.5 fails to rescue mod(mdg4)06
mod(mdg4)+t7.5 fails to rescue mod(mdg4)07
mod(mdg4)+t7.5 is able to partially rescue the X-Y nondisjunction defects seen in mod(mdg4)Z3-3401/mod(mdg4)Z3-3401, mod(mdg4)neo129/mod(mdg4)neo129 and mod(mdg4)Z3-3401/mod(mdg4)T16 males, presumably due to trans-splicing.
Lethality of mod(mdg4)02 and mod(mdg4)neo129 is partially rescued, though rescued males show homeotic transformation of A5 to A4. Rescued mod(mdg4)neo129 females are partially fertile - eggs arrest at differing stages of embryogenesis and occasional first instar larvae hatch.
