Ectopic expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long results in flatter adult eyes of normal size and strong salt-and-pepper pattern of pigmentation loss, when two copies of the ZnT86DScer\UAS.cDa are used the eye size is significantly reduced and pigmentation completely lost.

The morphological defects in the adult eye seen upon expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long are exacerbated to a varying degree by co-expression of any of the following: Zip42C.2Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip48CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip99CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip102BScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, foiGD2367, CatsupScer\UAS.cLa.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT33DKK100432, ZnT35CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT41FScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG.

The pigmentation defects in the adult eye seen upon expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long are exacerbated to a varying degree by co-expression of any of the following: Zip42C.2Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip48CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip71BGD2461, Zip88EScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip99CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip102BScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, foiGD2367, CatsupScer\UAS.cLa.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT33DKK100432, ZnT35CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT41FScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT63CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT77CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG.

The morphological defects in the adult eye seen upon expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long are ameliorated to a varying degree by co-expression of any of the following: Zip71BScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip89BScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, foiScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT63CKK102261.

The pigmentation defects in the adult eye seen upon expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long are ameliorated to a varying degree by co-expression of any of the following: Zip42C.1Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip48CKK101374, Zip71BScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip88EKK110168, Zip89BScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, foiScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT35CKK112697, ZnT63CKK102261.

The morphological and pigmentation defects in the adult eye seen upon expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long are not changed by co-expression of any of the following: Zip42C.1GD1830, Zip42C.2GD1831, Zip89BGD3013, Zip99CGD370, Zip102BGD3683, CatsupKK103630, ZnT33DScer\UAS.PB.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT41FGD4522, ZnT49BGD1962, ZnT77CGD2749.

The morphological defects in the adult eye seen upon expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long are not changed (unlike the loss of pigmentation phenotype, which is modified) by co-expression of any of the following: Zip42C.1Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip48CKK101374, Zip71BGD2461, Zip88EScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, Zip88EKK110168, ZnT35CKK112697, ZnT63CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, ZnT77CScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG.

Co-expression of foiGD2367 together with ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long leads to partial lethality even at 18[o]C.

Co-expression of Zip89BScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG partially rescues eye phenotypes of flies expressing ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long.

The mutant eye phenotype seen in flies co-expressing both ZnT63CVDRC.cUa and Zip42C.1Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PFa is enhanced if the flies are also co-expressing ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP.

Comments

The eye phenotype (flat shape, partial loss of pigmentation) observed upon expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of the Scer\GAL4GMR.long driver can be fully restored by co-expression of ZnT86DKK101698 RNAi.

The morphological and pigmentation defects in the adult eye seen upon expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long are nearly completely restored by co-expression of ZnT86DScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG.
