ScerGAL4path-c135 drives strong expression in carpet glial cells of the eye disc in third instar larvae; this expression is gradually diminished during pupal development.

Drives expression in a number of tissues, including posterior follicle cells (stretch, polar, centripetal); the embryonic/larval proventriculus; embryonic/larval carpet glial cells; copper cells and Dh31 cell of the embryonic/larval midgut; and in several somatic tissues of the adult male reproductive system.

Expressed in embryonic proventriculus, larval brain, eye disc, gut, fat body, adult ovarian squamous and posterior terminal follicle cells, male accessory glands, seminal vesicles, ejaculatory duct, cyst cells and spermatocytes.

Expression in the midgut is found in a distinct group of Dh31-expressing enteroendocrine cells located at the junction region of the anterior midgut and the acid-secreting portion of the larval midgut. This junction region occurs at a conspicuous and characteristic U-shaped bend in the gut. These are referred to as the "midgut junction Dh31-expressing cells".

During oogenesis, ScerGAL4c135 drives expression in the follicle cells at the posterior of the egg chamber at oogenesis stage 9-10, and in squamous nurse follicle cells and in centripetally migrating follicle cells at stage 10, and in posterior terminal cells. It does not drive expression in oocyte associated follicle cells. In the male reproductive tract, ScerGAL4c135 drives expression in the male accessory gland secondary secretory cells, the seminal vesicle, the ejaculatory duct, cyst cells, and spermatocytes. In embryos, ScerGAL4c135 drives expression in a ring-shaped pattern in the proventriculus. At larval stages, ScerGAL4c135 drives expression in the brain, in glial cells in the eye disc, in the gut, and in the fat bodies.

Expression during embryogenesis has not yet been described. However, when used to drive expression of UAS constructs that are usually lethal when expressed in embryos, animals can be recovered. This suggests there is little or no embryonic expression.

Expression in the lymph gland is uniform.
