Carries two insertions in the male specific exon 3. A 4.1kb Doc transposon sits between bps 8241 and 8299 and a 4.3kb insertion of an unknown type sits between bps 9575 and 9594.
Most SxlMf1/Y males lack part or all of their terminalia. SxlMf1/Sxlunspecified females have low viability and fertility.
SxlMf1 has abnormal sex-determination phenotype, enhanceable by msl-2Hsp83.PK
SxlMf1 has partially lethal - majority die | male phenotype, enhanceable by snf+t5.5
SxlMf1 has abnormal sex-determination phenotype, non-enhanceable by snRNP-U1-70K::Hsap\SRSF1Tag:FLAG
SxlMf1 has abnormal sex-determination phenotype, suppressible by Df(1)J210
SxlMf1 has abnormal sex-determination phenotype, non-suppressible by snRNP-U1-70K::Hsap\SRSF1Tag:FLAG
SxlMf1, snf+t5.5 has sex comb phenotype, enhanceable by snRNP-U1-70K62/snRNP-U1-70K62
SxlMf1 has genitalia phenotype, enhanceable by msl-2Hsp83.PK
SxlMf1 has prothoracic leg phenotype, enhanceable by msl-2Hsp83.PK
SxlMf1 has macrochaeta phenotype, enhanceable by snf+t5.5
SxlMf1 has imaginal disc phenotype, enhanceable by snf+t5.5
The addition of msl-2Hsp83.PK leads to males with completely female genitalia and forelegs, yet nearly normal abdomens. The addition of one copy of P{snf+,dhd+} to SxlMf1/Y males reduces the viability of males to about 50% of the expected number. The addition of two copies reduces the survival rate to about 3%. The survivors exhibit a wide range of imaginal discs defects, including thin or missing bristles, as well as small and rough eyes. Also feminizing effects are also seen in the sex combs, the majority of flies show some loss of sex combs, and only 1% had wild-type male sex combs. Intersexuality is predominantly of the "mosaic" type in which individual cells are either male or female rather than intermediate. The addition of noi+t3.6 to SxlMf1/Y males with two copies of P{snf+,dhd+} has no significant effect on the foreleg feminisation phenotype seen in those flies. There is a slight increase in the foreleg feminisation phenotype seen in SxlMf1/Y males carrying two copies of P{snf+,dhd+}, when you compare the addition of homozygous snRNP70K62, to heterozygous snRNP70K62. The removal of noi function (by adding noi2/noiD) leads to an almost complete suppression of the foreleg feminisation phenotype seen in SxlMf1/Y flies with two copies of P{snf+,dhd+}. The addition of two copies of P{snf+,dhd+} to SxlMf1/Y males that also carry noi2/noiD, leads to feminisation of the foreleg and a reduction in viability. SxlMf1/Y males with a single extra copy of P{snf+,dhd+}, are considerably more masculine after the addition of Df(1)J210.
The addition of snRNP70K::Hsap\SFRS1T:Zzzz\FLAG to SxlMf1/Y males has no effect on the foreleg feminisation phenotype seen in those flies.
The Doc insertion is identical to the one found in SxlMf2.
