Homozygous embryos show wound closure defects.

Bouton number at the neuromuscular junction is not significantly altered in heterozygous larvae compared to controls.

rl10a embryos show branch patterning defects and defects in branch continuity.

rl10a/+ flies show a wild-type number of rhabdomeres in their eyes.

rl10a/+ animals show no significant alteration in bouton number compared to wild-type.

rl1/rl10a legs show a complete lack of bracts.

rl10/rl10a heterozygotes die at the late third instar to pupal stage, earlier than rl9/rl10a which die in the pupal stage. Mitotic index of rl10/rl10a larval neuroblasts is clearly reduced compared to wild type. The reduction is typical of a delay in passing through interphase, as a consequence of a reduced ability to transduce proliferation signals. The ratio of metaphase to anaphase figures is elevated, suggesting the cells are being delayed at metaphase. There is a low but significant level of hypercondensed chromosomes in both anaphase and metaphase. Some anaphase defects can be seen including a low frequency of overcondensed chromatids at late anaphase, anaphase figures with lagging chromatids and randomly oriented chromatids at anaphase. In contrast to wild type, there is very little increase in the mitotic index in either rl9/rl10a or rl10/rl10a mutants after colchicine treatment for 3 hrs, and over-condensation of the chromosomes is not seen.

Phenotypically neutral with no photoreceptor defects.

Mutation has no effect on rhohs.sev rough eye phenotype.

The reduced pupal size characteristic for animals expressing jebScer\UAS.cVa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 is partially suppressed by combination with a single copy of rl10a.

The eye roughening and multiple R7 phenotype of RV12.hs2sev mutants is significantly suppressed by the loss of one copy of rl (in rl10a heterozygotes).

The enlarged eye phenotype seen in mosaic animals in which the eye is homozygous for gfr1 is suppressed by rl10a/+.

The increase in bouton number per muscle area that is seen at the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) in S6kIIign-Δ58-1 larvae is significantly suppressed by rl10a/+, although the increase in absolute bouton number that is seen at the NMJ in S6kIIign-Δ58-1 larvae is not suppressed by rl10a/+.

The presence of a rl10a background significantly suppresses ectopic wing vein formation found in cswY279C.Scer\UAS (Scer\GAL4tub) mutants.

The branch integrity defects of Scer\GAL4btl.PS>Mkp3GS801 embryos are increased when these embryos have a rl10a/+ background relative to a wild-type background.

Expression of S6kIIScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, causes a more severe roughened-eye phenotype and a greater loss of rhabdomeres when expressed in a rl10a/+ background than when expressed in a wild-type background.

Expression of S6kIIK231R.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC, under the control of

Scer\GAL4hs.2sev, causes a more severe loss of photoreceptor cells when expressed or rl10a/+ background.

Reduction of EGFR pathway function in rl10a heterozygotes strongly suppresses the mskScer\UAS.cLa Scer\GAL4en-e16E `Twiggy wing' (exhibiting a nearly normal anterior compartment and severely reduced posterior compartments) phenotype.

The Mkp3hs.sev rough eye phenotype is enhanced by rl10a/+.

The increase in bouton number observed in Fas2e76/+ heterozygotes is partially suppressed by rl10a/+ mutants.

Embryos derived from homozygous fs(1)M31901 females fail to develop structures posterior to the seventh abdominal segment as well as anterior-most structures, including the head skeleton. The posterior defect is significantly suppressed if the female is also carrying one copy of Dsor1Su1; an eighth abdominal segment is formed. This suppression is significantly reduced if the females are also carrying one copy of rl10a.

Suppressor of the dosage-dependent (two or more copies of P{sev-svp1} or P{sev-svp2}) transformation of cone cells into R7 photoreceptors and at a lower frequency R7 cells into outer photoreceptors.

The neuronal degeneration phenotype and decreased survival of animals expressing Hsap\HDQ93.ex1p.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 is not suppressed in a rl10a/+ mutant background.
