Description

Created by a 4kb foldback (FB) insertion into the catalytic domain of PTP-ER, just downstream of the invariant aspartate residue on the WPD loop. The insertion also generates a 9bp duplication (TCATCACTC) at its insertion site. The insertion creates a stop codon, terminating the PTP-ER 14 residues into the insertion.

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

PTP-ERXE-3022 flies have a rough eye phenotype due to ommatidia occasionally containing one or more extra R7 cells, which may be accompanied by loss of an outer photoreceptor cell. R3 and R4 cells are unaffected.

Displays a very mild eye roughness due to the recruitment of ectopic R7 cells either when homozygous or when hemizygous with a deficiency for the 57F--58A region.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

PTP-ERXE-3022, in a double homozygote combination with alphS-331 exhibits a synthetic lethality.

PTP-ERXE-3022/PTP-ERXE-2776 do not show synthetic lethality when placed in an alphS-331 homozygous background, however, a significant increase of extra R7 cells is observed compared to the respective single homozygotes.

PTP-ERXE-3022 ; Mkp31/Mkp32 pharate adults have ommatidia characteristic of either single mutant.

Dominant enhancer of the Ras85DV12.sev rough eye phenotype. Heterozygous PTP-ERXE-3022 suppresses the rough eyes and loss of photoreceptor cells seen in either hemizygous Dsor1XS520, hemizygous phl12 or homozygous ksrS-548. Ectopic expression of PTP-ERhs.sev in the eye completely blocks the Ras85DV12.sev rough eye phenotype even in the presence of PTP-ERXE-3022.
