    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Homozygous clones in the eye (induced using the eyFLP technique) overgrow relative to their wild-type neighbours, without overall hyperplasia of the eye.

Primary pigment cells are often missing or in inappropriate locations around the ommatidium in homozygous clones in the pupal retina and many of the mutant ommatidia have fewer than the normal number of cone cells.

Mosaic animals in which the eyes and head cuticle are composed almost entirely of homozygous tissue (generated using the Minute technique) have significantly larger eyes than controls.

Mosaic animals in which the wing disc is composed almost entirely of homozygous tissue (generated using the Minute technique) give rise to adults with patterning defects in the wings; wing vein L5 does not reach the margin (70% penetrance) and the wings are consistently smaller along the proximal-distal axis than control wings.

    Additional Comments
    Genetic Interactions
    Statement
    Reference

The ommatidial patterning defects seen in homozygous gfr1 clones in the pupal eye disc are not suppressed by Ras85De2F.

gfr1 dominantly suppresses the wing notching phenotype seen in Df(1)N-54l9 heterozygotes (the penetrance of the phenotype is significantly decreased in the double heterozygotes).

The enlarged eye phenotype seen in mosaic animals in which the eye is homozygous for gfr1 is not modified by Df(1)N-54l9/+, cdc2B47/+ or bsk1/+.

The enlarged eye phenotype seen in mosaic animals in which the eye is homozygous for gfr1 is suppressed if the animals are also carrying either Ras85De2F/+, rl10a/+ or ykiB5/+.
