Detailed Description

Amnioserosa cells of DAAMEx4 mutant embryos are bigger, present a more regular, more round shape, and exhibit a decrease in the amplitude of the cell contraction.

DAAMEx4 embryos exhibit dorsal closure phenotypes, such as decreased zipping speed, puckering of the dorsal epidermis and a malformed canthus; some embryos also arrests at this stage.

DAAMEx4/Y males are viable and have moderate mushroom body axon growth and guidance defects.

DAAMEx4 mutant flies exhibit growth and axon guidance defects in the α and β lobes of the mushroom body. No changes in Kenyon cell number or dendritic organisation are detected.

Single cell DAAMEx4 mutant mushroom body clones generated in a homozygous DAAMEx4 mutant background exhibit axon guidance and/or growth defects. In many cases the two axon branches run into the same lobe.

Presence of FrlEx83/+, FrlEx88/+ or FrlExK62/+ enhances axon growth phenotypes seen in the mushroom body of DAAMEx4/Y males. Expression of FrlHMS00445 driven by Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 enhances axon growth phenotypes seen in the mushroom body (β and α lobes) of DAAMEx4/Y males.

Comments

Expression of DAAMScer\UAS.P\T.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU rescues the α and β lobe mushroom body defects seen in DAAMEx4 mutant flies.

Expression of DAAMI732A.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU does not rescue the α and β lobe mushroom body defects seen in DAAMEx4 mutant flies.

Expression of DAAMFL-GBD2.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU partially rescues the α and β lobe mushroom body defects seen in DAAMEx4 mutant flies.
