ELMO, dCed-12, engulfment and cell motility
ELMO/CED-12 family protein that functions together with Myoblast city as a bipartite GEF to optimally activate Rac to mediate the engulfment of apoptotic cells and cell migration - functions in myoblast fusion and border cell migration - Draper, Ced-12, and JNK are part of the phagocytic machinery of the follicle cells that is essential for the death and removal of germ-line-derived nurse cells during late oogenesis

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.
Low-frequency RNA-Seq exon junction(s) not annotated.

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
Comment: maternally deposited
Ced-12 expression is ubiquitous in embryos in early stages. It is apparent in somatic and visceral mesoderm by stage 11. By stage 13, it is stronger in gut visceral mesoderm than somatic mesoderm. Expression is highest in the visceral mesoderm at stage 16
Broad Ced-12 expression is detected in the ovary throughout oogenesis. It is detected in the germline throughout oogenesis and is detected in follicle cells after stage 9, with prominent expression in the border cells at stage 10. A broad temporal and spatial pattern is seen at other stages of development.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
polyclonal
Ced-12 is essential in early, posterior, border cell migration in developing egg chambers, but is not required for later, dorsal, border cell migration.
