Mmp2Y53N/Mmp2W307stop, Mmp2Y53N/Mmp2218, Mmp2Y53N/Df(2R)BSC132 and Mmp2Y53N/Mmp202353 females show increased numbers of stalk cells between egg chambers compared to wild type when assayed 7-9 days after being shifted to the restrictive temperature.

Mmp2Y53N/Mmp2W307stop females shifted to the restrictive temperature show increased follicle precursor cell proliferation in region 2b of the germarium compared to controls. The mutant follicle stem cells show a significant increase in cell division compared to controls, while the cell division rate of mutant germline stem cells is normal.
