Brca247 mutants show defects in the DNA double-strand break repair as assessed by the P{hswa} male germline assay: the animals display no synthesis-dependent strand annealing (SDSA) repair events and a compensatory increase in the percentage of end joining repair events relative to wild-type.

Mutant flies are sensitive to camptothecin.
