The expression of Drp1UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4e33C results in the third instar larval lymph gland showing an increase in crystal cells in the primary lobe.

Expressing Drp1UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA leads to small and fragmented mitochondria in the early third instar larval fat body.

Expressing Drp1UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR leads to a small but significant decrease in adult climbing ability, but does not have an obvious effect in the thorax muscles; muscle mitochondria also do not show obvious defects.

Expressing Drp1UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA does not seem to lead to mitochondrial defects in the third instar larval fat body (as assessed by MitoGFP).

Expression of Drp1UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR has no significant effect on larval locomotor activity or adult eclosion rate.

Flies expressing Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 does not result in any wing defects.

Expression of Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in mitochondrial fragmentation (they are smaller and rounder than normal) in the indirect flight muscles.

Expression of Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa (positive regulator of mitofission) driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF suppresses retinal degeneration (loss of rhabdomeres from photoreceptors) in 8 day old trpP365/+ flies.

The larval locomotor deficit, very low adult eclosion rate as well as the mitochondrial morphology defects in adult indirect flight muscles (enlarged clustered mitochondria) characteristic for animals expressing cluGD13926 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR can be suppressed to a varying degree by co-expression of Drp1UAS.cDa.

Overexpression of Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096, enhances the wing phenotype of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096>fogScer\UAS.cRa flies, with males appearing similar to Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096>fogScer\UAS.cRa males, with corresponding females showing strong wing defects ranging from relatively mild margin defects to strong wing defects that are similar to those in males.

Expression of Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa partially suppresses the lethality seen when tamKK100485 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU.

Expression of Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU does not rescue mitochondrial morphology in Df(3L)Pmi-PGRP-LD flies.

Expression of Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR suppresses the defects in mitochondrial morphology that are seen in the indirect flight muscles of Pink15 mutants. The defects in wing posture and indirect flight muscle degeneration phenotypes are also suppressed.

Expression of Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B suppresses the defects in mitochondrial morphology that are seen in the indirect flight muscles of park25 mutants. The indirect flight muscle degeneration phenotype is also suppressed.

Xenogenetic Interactions

Overexpression of Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa in flies also expressing Scer\GAL4elav.PU>Hsap\HTTQ93.ex1p.Scer\UAS results in an about 23% further reduction in lifespan.

Comments

Expression of Drp1Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU rescues mitochondrial morphology in Drp11/Drp12 flies.
