The expression of Drp1GD10456 under the control of Scer\GAL4dome-PG14 leads to the blood progenitors in the third instar larva lymph gland to show mitochondria with longer branches; the mitochondrial footprint and number of junctions is increased in the primary lobe, and decreased in the secondary lobe. The lymph gland shows an increase in crystal cells in the secondary lobe.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4e33C leads to decreased temporal variation in mitochondria branch number and junction number in the larval lymph gland.

Expression of asrijGD2167 under the control of Scer\GAL4Hml.PU does not impair the ability of adult hemocytes to phagocytose bacteria. Adult flies expressing asrijGD2167 with the Scer\GAL4btl.PS driver do not show any significant increase in sensitivity (mortality rate) upon infection with either Bacillus subtilis or Escherichia coli, a slight increase in susceptibility with the Scer\GAL4Hml.PU driver, moderately reduced survival rate upon B.subtilis infection is observed with the Scer\GAL4e33C driver. The adult lifespan without any bacterial infection is not compromised by either Scer\GAL4btl.PS- or Scer\GAL4Hml.PU-driven expression of asrijGD2167.

Adults expressing asrijGD2167 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
