Expression of zipGD1566 under the control of Scer\GAL4hth-GETDB in the larval antennal disc leads to disorganization and a breakdown of the field boundary at the A1 fold, in contrast to controls, and mislocalized cells are maintained and integrated in the epithelial sheet.

Eye-antennal disc clones expressing zipGD1566 under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU exhibit a small reduction in size as compared to wild type clones, along with some defects in differentiation and cell morphology.

Expression of zipGD1566 lessens the invasiveness of Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS scrib1 tumours and improves pupation rate.

Flies expressing zipGD1566 under the control of Scer\GAL4Abd-B-LDN show partial rotation of the male genitalia.

Expression of zipGD1566 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU in clones in the eye disc results in differentiation defects without inducing a cell invasion phenotype.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 results in an extreme increase in neuroblast size in the larval brain, without loss of neuroblasts.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 results in shorter neuroblast lineages (less daughter cells per neuroblast) in the larval brain compared to controls.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 results in extreme defects in the shape of neuroblasts in the larval brain.

Adults expressing zipGD1566 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in adult/pharate lethality.

Co-expression of zipGD1566 suppresses the small clone size, differentiation and cell morphology defects seen in eye-antennal disc clones expressing RhoGEF2RE.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU.

Co-expression of zipGD1566 suppresses the formation of undifferentiated clonal masses and partially suppresses the reduction of differentiation seen in eye-antennal disc clones expressing both RhoGEF2RE.Scer\UAS and RafScer\UAS.F179 under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU, and also suppresses the developmental delay shown by larvae containing these clones.

Co-expression of zipGD1566 fails to suppress the ectopic differentiation of seen in eye-antennal disc clones expressing RafScer\UAS.F179 under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU.

The cell invasion phenotype (mislocalisation to the optic stalk) shown by sds22Δ2.8 eye disc cells is suppressed if the cells are also expressing zipGD1566 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU.

Knockdown of zip through coexpression of zipGD1566 with chbScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP in the developing eye under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF leads to a severe eye phenotype.
