    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Third instar larval neuroblasts of tefuunspecified mutants have an average of 3 fused chromosome ends per cell.

Anaphase bridges are sometimes seen in mutant imaginal discs.

Escaper adult homozygotes have eyes that are smaller than normal, have a rough phenotype and are missing some bristles. Mutant wing discs contain significantly more mitotic cells 25 minutes after irradiation compared to control wild-type discs. At later time points following irradiation, G2 arrest occurs normally in mutant wing discs.

The chromosome fusion phenotype seen in third instar larval neuroblasts of tefuunspecified mutants is enhanced from an average of approximately 3 fusions per nucleus to an average of approximately 5 per nucleus by mei-41D9. mei-4129D and mei-41RT1 are stronger enhancers of this phenotype (7 fusions per nucleus), with the latter also causing polyploidy in 19% of cases. In these polyploid nuclei, most chromosome ends are fused. This phenotype is also weakly enhanced by mus304D3/mus304D3 and more strongly enhanced by mus304D1/mus304D3 (5.35 fusions on average) and mus304D1/mus304D1 (7.12 fusions per nucleus and 20% of these nuclei are polyploid).

tefuunspecified; mei-41RT1 and tefuunspecified; mei-4129D double mutants develop more slowly than wild-type animals and arrest as third instar larvae for several days before death. There are fewer mitotic cells in the proliferating tissues of these double mutants.

mei-41unspecified tefuunspecified double mutant third instar larvae usually have melanotic tumours.
