Frameshift at Gly40 created a truncated protein consisting of the first calcium binding site (up tp residue 39) and 14 new amino acids generated from a frameshift.
Cam8t is a deletion of 9 bases accompanied by a 5 base duplication that causes a frameshift in the coding sequence. Position of mutation on reference sequence inferred by FlyBase curator.
Larvae exhibit high levels of spontaneous backward movement. Cam7/Cam8t mutants die in the pupal case but few develop far enough to show failed head eversion. Camhs.PN restores good viability, about 50%. Transheterozygous combinations with other Cam mutations produces an incompletely penetrant ectopic wing vein phenotype and either lateral or bilateral cuticular 'scabs' on the notum.
Cam8t, l(2)C43C43 has lethal phenotype
In combination with l(2)C43C43 mutants exhibit completely penetrant lethality.
Allelic series of the relative strength of the lethal mutations: Cam8t > Cam7 > Cam6c4 > Cam5 > Cam4c1 > Cam3c1.
