Reference

Type II neuroblasts in homozygous clones in the larval brain adopt a type I neuroblast identity.

Lethality occurs after puparium formation. Mutations elicits a wide range of homeotic transformations: proboscis to leg and/or antenna, antenna to leg, dorsal prothorax to wing, first leg to second leg, haltere to wing, third leg to second leg and genitalia to leg and/or antenna. ash21/ash29 transheterozygote third legs display overgrowth and supernumerary leg.

Lethality acts during the L2/L3 larval instars.

The formation of ectopic wing veins observed in adult flies expressing Marcal1Scer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU is not affected by combination with a single copy of ash21.

sktlΔ15/+ ; ash21/ash218 larvae have delayed development and die at an earlier stage than ash21/ash218 larvae.

ash21/+ does not significantly enhance the frequency of transformation of halteres into wings seen in Dsp11/Y flies.

The addition of ash21 does not effect the variable eye size phenotype seen in osaScer\UAS.cCa/Scer\GAL4ey.PH flies.

Flies heterozygous for both Df(3R)red-P93 and ash21 express a weak transformation of halteres to wings or third legs to second legs.
