Description

411bp deletion (from base pair position -66 to +345 of the Abd-B class A promoter and transcription start site, obliterating detectable levels of Abd-B class A transcription.

Alteration maps to between coordinates +157 and +157.4kb.

411 bp deletion extending from -66 bp to +345bp relative to the class A transcription start site.

Mutation in the m element.

396 bp deletion spanning the transcription start site of the P4 promoter region (FBrf0049812).

411 bp deletion of the Abd-B locus extending from 66 bp upstream to 345 bp downstream of the transcription initiation for class A RNA: inactivates the morphogenetic "m" function of Abd-B.

0.4kb deletion in the region of the opa-e repeat.

Lesion mapped to: 157-157.4 kb. 0.4kb deletion.

In Abd-Biab8-D14/Abd-BT2N mutant females (mutant for Abd-B m protein), the internal female genitalia do not develop properly and, in some cases, parovaria are the only structures remaining. In males, these mutants do not affect the internal genitalia, although the testes are reduced in size and are not connected properly with the internal genitalia.

Stage 15 Abd-Biab8-D14 embryos have only 13 genital disc precursor cells, instead of the wild-type number of 22. In Abd-Biab8-D14/Abd-BUab-1 mutant embryos, segments A5 to A9 are transformed into more anterior-like segments and most genital disc precursor cells are missing, leaving just ~7 present instead of the wild-type number of 22.

An A7 segment forms in Abd-BM5/Abd-Biab8-D14 adult males.

Heterozygous males show a weak A7 to A6 transformation.

Adult females have eight abdominal segments, lack genitalia and (occasionally) analia. Males have eight abdominal segments and retain both genitalia and analia. In these flies parasegment 13 is transformed towards 10 while parasegment 14 is unaffected. Embryos lack posterior spiracles.

Partially suppressed by Abd-Biab9-tuh-3. Reduced penetrance of head defect phenotype when in trans with Abd-Biab9-tuh-3.

Parasegments 10--13 are transformed to parasegment 9 (FBrf0043917).

A5-A8 are transformed to A4, females lack genitalia, and there is a weak haploinsufficient transformation of A5-A8. Parasegments 10-13 are transformed to parasegment 9 in embryos.

Dominant haplo-insufficient phenotypes, both sexes are partially or completely sterile. Lethal or nearly lethal over Df(3R)P9.

Abd-B mRNA and protein are absent from parasegments 10-13 but present at wild type levels in parasegment 14. This confirms that Abd-Biab8-D14 mutant embryos lack the m mRNA.

m- r+ mutant, eliminating function of Abd-B function.

Genetically null for the Abd-B m function.

Abd-B m-r+ mutation.
