Expression of CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 increases total development time by 24 hours at 25[o]C. Mean cell size in the wing is increased in adult escapers.

44% of adult male escapers expressing CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 have over-rotated genitalia.

Expression of CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PFa does not result in an eye defect.

Expression of CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH results in a weak increase in the number of ommatidia that is significant only in females. The ommatidia of mutant males are significantly larger in size than their control siblings.

Expression of CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E does not change the posterior compartment area.

Expression of CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.NP3121 results in complete male lethality at the late third instar larval stage 86% of females die, mostly as late pharates. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 also results in a high percentage of lethality: 56% in males and 31% in females. Emerging flies show defects in the abdominal cuticle restricted to the posterior tergites A4 to A6. Abdominal bristles are disoriented and the tergites exhibit unsclerotised patches of variable size. Under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 males are more strongly affected than females and also frequently exhibit rotated genitalia.

Unlike in wild type flies, the anterior and posterior dorsal histoblast nests of segment A4 to A6 remain small and unfused when CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.NP3121. The development of these flies is not delayed.

corto420 enhances the frequency of cuticle defects and rotated genitalia seen in males when CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32. No enhancement of the female cuticle defects is seen.

corto07128b enhances the frequency of cuticle defects and rotated genitalia seen in males when CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32. The frequency of female cuticle defects is also increased. The cuticle defects seen in females expressing CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.NP3121 are not enhanced in the presence of one copy of corto07128b.

Expression of CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 slightly enhances the homeotic transformation from A7 to A6 seen in Abd-BFab7-1 male heterozygotes. The expressivity is slightly enhanced in 86% of flies but at least a thin A6 segment always persists. No cuticular defects are seen in either abdominal segment A5 or the remaining A6 tergites.

Expression of CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.NP3121 and one copy of corto07128b enhance the A7 to A6 homeotic transformation seen in the few Abd-BFab7-1/+ male escapers.

Comments

Co-expression of CycGScer\UAS.cSa suppresses the lethality caused by expression of CycGdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of either Scer\GAL4da.G32 or Scer\GAL4Act.
