    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

The seizure threshold (minimum voltage of high frequency stimulation of the brain required to induce seizure) paraJS1 homozygous flies is higher than that of wild-type flies. This is reduced to wild-type levels by Tp(1;2)r+75c/+.

Flies carrying paraJS1 in trans to Df(1)D34, parahd5, paraID30, paraID7 or paralk2 are viable but exhibit paralysis after heat shock. Flies carrying paraJS1 in trans to parats1, paraST76 or parats115 are viable and do not exhibit paralysis following heat shock.

    Genetic Interactions
    Statement
    Reference

paraJS1 dominantly suppresses the bang sensitive phenotype of eas2 homozygotes by 87%. The minimum voltage of high frequency stimulation of the brain required to induce seizure (the seizure threshold) of eas2 homozygotes is raised to almost wild-type levels by paraJS1/+. This suppression is itself suppressed by Tp(1;2)r+75c/+.

paraJS1/+; mlenap-ts1/+ completely suppresses the bang sensitive phenotype of eas2 homozygotes and increases the minimum voltage of high frequency stimulation of the brain required to induce seizure to wild-type levels.

Neither para13.5.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4elav.PLu nor para13.5.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4elav.PLu reduces suppression of bang sensitivity and seizure threshold reduction of eas2 homozygotes by paraJS1/+.

Despite the closer proximity of P{lacW}paraJS1 to Rbp2, this insertion is considered a para allele based on reduction of para transcript but not Rbp2 and on phenotype. However, it does complement a number of para alleles.
