Expression of hng1KK103642 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 leads to wing hinge defects in the adult fly. Defects include a reduced/mispatterned alula, a bent hinge, and a disorganized costa region. The flies cannot fold its wings over the abdomen normally, and has a "held out" wing phenotype. The animals can flap their wings but cannot fly. Wings are smaller than in controls. The phenotype is 100% penetrant and dose dependent, with increased knockdown leading to a stronger phenotype that also affects the more distal wing blade. Hinge defects are also seen when hng1KK103642 is expressed ubiquitously under the control of Scer\GAL4da.PU.
