Expression of nejΔQ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU does not result in any obvious eye phenotypes in adults.

Scer\GAL4GMR.PF-driven expression of nejΔQ.Scer\UAS results in 100% lethality at the early pupal stage.

Expression of nejΔQ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev results in loss of ommatidia within the middle of the retina. The remaining ommatidia lack variable numbers of photoreceptors.

Animals expressing nejΔQ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF die shortly after cessation of larval development. Each ommatidium in the larval eye disc contains only the R8, R2 and R5 photoreceptors, suggesting that ommatidial assembly is blocked at the recruitment of the photoreceptor R3/R4 pair. Expression of nejΔQ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev results in almost complete deletion of the eye. Expression of nejΔQ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH blocks initiation pattern formation in the eye disc, which results in complete elimination of the eye in the adult. The severe rough eye phenotype caused by expression of nejΔQ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev is not affected if the flies also carry nej3/+.

Expression of nejΔQ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4unspecified does not suppress the no-eye phenotype of soD/+.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Co-expression of nejΔQ.Scer\UAS partially rescues the small eye and lens fusion phenotype seen in adult flies expressing Hsap\APPAβ42.Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU. Co-expression of nejΔQ.Scer\UAS partially suppresses the increased cell death observed in third instar eye discs of flies expressing Hsap\APPAβ42.Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU.
