Description

An insertion of a transposable element into the intron between the second and third transcriptional start sites of shot.

An insertion of a transposable element into the intron between the second and third transcriptional start sites of shot. The P-element is inserted at genomic position 9,807,300 (accession number FJ869115).

P{lacW} insertion in an intron 1917bp before the first exon common to mRNAs encoding shot isoforms A and B.

Insertion of a P{lacW} element into the intron at the 5' end of the gene that separates the alternate starts from the shared exons.

shotk03405 mutant embryos display no muscle detachment phenotypes.

The dendrites of motorneurons are strongly reduced and motorneuron axons stall in shotk03405 mutant embryos.

shotk03405/Df(2R)MK1 primary neuronal cultures show a significantly reduced axonal length compared to controls. They also show an increase of neurons with unbundled microtubules - these microtubules display irregular trajectories and frequent loops in axons and growth cones.

shot3/Df(2R)MK1 primary neuronal cultures have normal numbers of filopodia.

Germ band retraction and head involution fail in approximately 15% of homozygous embryos. Breaks in the ventral epidermis of the middle abdominal segments are seen in fully germ band extended embryos.

Comments

Lethality is reverted by excision of the P{lacW} element.

The site of the P{lacW} insertion in shotk03010 is identical to the site of the P{lacW} insertion in shotk03405.
