sno71e3/Y males show slight notching of the wing and wing vein thickening. The flies also have a rough eye phenotype.

At 23oC flies exhibit a modest loss of wing margin tissue and thickening of wing veins. Flies heat pulsed during pupariation do not exhibit a hypertrophic bristle phenotype on the notum and photoreceptor organisation behind the morphogenetic furrow is regular.

At 23oC adults have rough eyes: bristles misplaced and sometimes duplicated. 30% of ommatidia have lost one or more R cells, and 30% contained an extra R cell. At 19oC eyes are more normal. At 23oC wings are notched and veins are thickened, and this phenotype is more severe at 27oC and absent at 19oC. Fourth and fifth tarsal segments are fused with 80% penetrance at 23oC, and wild type at 19oC. Females are poorly fertile at 23oC and completely sterile at 27oC. At 25oC the number of ovarioles per female is reduced by 25%, and defects in cystoblast survival and polarity are evident. Temperature sensitive period is in the prepupal and pupal stages. Phenotypes of sno71e3 are similar to those of Nl1N-ts1.

The notching of the wing and wing vein thickening seen in sno71e3/Y males is enhanced by CG6194P0997/CG6194P0997. The sno71e3/Y rough eye phenotype is also enhanced.

Loss of a single copy of wg (wgl-12), ct (ct53d) or vg (vg1) in sno71e3 flies causes extensive loss of wing margin tissue. Single copy loss of H (HE31) is able to suppress the wing margin defects of sno71e3 flies. Loss of a single copy of Su(H) (Su(H)2) causes pupal lethality at 23oC and at 20oC some pupae eclose and exhibit severe wing margin defects.

A duplication of N rescues many of the defects of sno mutants. There is a synergistic interaction with 'nd' alleles of N, and a suppressive interaction with alleles of the 'Ax' class of N. H99 and sno71e3 show a mutually suppressive interaction. The confluens phenotype of Dl3 is suppressed by sno71e3. Flies hemizygous for sno71e3 and heterozygous for groE73 suffer lethality with a few escapers that show an eye roughening phenotype.
