Detailed Description

No cardiac or bristle phenotypes are observed in heterozygous mRpL1210534 mutant females.

Mutants do not display a dominant Minute bristle phenotype.

mRpL1210534/Df(3L)Scf-R6 animals die during larval development, 70-80 h after egg deposition. Mutant larvae are thinner than controls, but do not exhibit a developmental delay as they enter second instar on time. When homozygous mutant clones are made in imaginal discs, the clones survive but have a growth disadvantage that led to smaller clones than controls. This does not seem to be due to an in increase in apoptosis, and cell size appears normal suggesting a slower growth rate. This effect is cell autonomous.

The eye phenotypes seen in CycDScer\UAS.cDa, Cdk4Scer\UAS.cMa (driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF) animals is suppressed by mRpL1210534. When mRpL12Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP is driven by Scer\GAL4hs.PH and exposed to 3 1h heat shocks per day (37oC) suppresses the larval lethality and the small size seen in mRpL1210534/Df(3L)Scf-R6 animals. Clones made in the fat body are also small and contain less DNA than control cells. A reduction is seen of mitochondria associated staining.
