57.4% of embryos derived from homozygous female germline clones stop developing before cuticle formation, and 27.7% show severe morphological defects that prevents analysis of the head. 12% of the analysable embryos lack head structures.
Homozygous clones result in autonomous loss of wing vein differentiation. Wing veins are only completely missing when dorsal and ventral clones coincide. Homozygous clones induce ectopic wing margin. Dorsal or ventral clones that apparently intersect the normal margin result in nicks in the wing margin. Occasionally, clones that induce ectopic wing margin also induce small outgrowths and overgrowth of adjacent wing tissue.
