Description

Duplication at the Su(var)3-7 locus, with each copy of the gene separated by a y+2083 marker. The 5' copy is a fusion protein containing a wild-type copy of Su(var)3-7 fused at its C-terminus in frame with 157 amino acids of the y protein (this structure is due to the cloning procedure used to make the donor construct). The 3' copy contains a 3.7kb deletion which removes most of the Su(var)3-7 gene.

Su(var)3-714/+ does not significantly affect the size of the adult eye, as compared to wild type.

The X chromosome is shorter than normal and bloated in polytene chromosome squashes from male homozygous Dp(3;3)Su(var)3-714 third instar larvae.

The chromocenter has slightly loose morphology in polytene chromosome squashes from homozygous Dp(3;3)Su(var)3-714 third instar larvae.

The chromocenter has loose morphology in polytene chromosome squashes from Dp(3;3)Su(var)3-714/Dp(3;3)Su(var)3-79 third instar larvae.
