Homozygous rho-5KO1 flies do not exhibit any discernible developmental defects. However, a severe decrease in daytime activity is seen in adult flies compared to wild type or heterozygotes. rho-5KO1 mutant flies sometimes do not move for periods of 1 hr, which is highly unusual, and have a reduced number of active periods over a given time. However, when the flies are active they move as much if not more than control flies and have a similar walking speed. The number of periods of sleep (defined as a period of activity of more than 5 minutes) is increased in rho-5KO1 mutants.

rho-5KO1/Df(2L)J17 flies do not exhibit any discernible developmental defects. However, a severe decrease in daytime activity is seen in adult flies compared to wild type or heterozygotes.
