Detailed Description

timls flies kept in constant light conditions show locomotor arrhythmicity, as do wild-type flies.

tims flies show a larger phase response to light pulses than timls flies.

timls females show reproductive arrest more readily than tims females.

timls, jetc double mutants are referred to as "Veela" flies. 85% of timls/timls, jetc/jetc (Veela/Veela) double mutants show anomalous rhythmicity when kept in constant light, while 31% of timls/+, jetc/+ (Veela/+) double heterozygotes show this phenotype. Flies of this genotype behave normally when kept in constant darkness.

timls/+, jetc/+ (Veela/+); cryb/+ flies exhibit robust rhythmicity in constant light, this phenotype is stronger than in timls/+, jetc/+ (Veela/+) flies and is not seen in cryb/+ flies.

timls/tim01, jetc (Veela/tim01) flies show 22% anomalous rhythmicity when kept in constant light, while flies of the same genotype that additionally carry one copy of the timper3'UTR.tim.T:Ivir\HA1 transgene (which has the same coding sequence as the timls allele) show 63% rhythmicity in constant light.
