Scer\GAL4en.PU-mediated expression increases the fraction of wing disc cells in G2 phase and concomitantly decreases the fraction in G1.

Cells expressing weeScer\UAS.cPa show an elongated G2 phase, their rates of division are similar to wild-type indicating their G1 phases are shorter.

Expression of weeScer\UAS.cPa under the control of one copy of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 or Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in a reduced number of sensory bristles on the adult dorsal thorax. Flies expressing weeScer\UAS.cPa under the control of two copies of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 have a nearly bald dorsal thorax and a severe reduction of the scutellum. Flies expressing weeScer\UAS.cPa under the control of two copies of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 have a furrowed thorax. Flies expressing weeScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 have upturned wings. Flies expressing weeScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 show extensive scalloping of the wing margin. Flies expressing weeScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF have disorganised facets and frequent duplications of bristles in the eye.

When weeScer\UAS.cPa is driven by Scer\GAL4neur-P72 in stgAR2 animals exhibit severe bristle loss. The lineage of external sensory organ is significantly modified in mutants. Usually, only two cell divisions of the pI cell are seen as opposed to the three seen in wild-type. The first mitosis, oriented in the epithelial plane, gives rise to a large anterior cell and a small posterior glial cell. The glial cell quickly undergoes nuclear fragmentation. The large anterior cell divides once and resulting in a sheath and neuron cell. Also the timing of cell divisions is stringly affected. In the median rows od sensory organs, the first division occurs on average 4 hours later than in wild-type. The second division occurs ~3 hours late. Finally the polarity of the first division is reversed compared to the wild-type situation. This abnormal division sequence is observed in 78% of mutant organs.

Cells expressing weeScer\UAS.cPa driven by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP in a Dpa1/Dpa2 background, divide more slowly than controls. These cells are also subviable.

Coexpression of weeScer\UAS.cPa and trblScer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 results in almost complete ablation of wing tissue. Occasionally, conversion of wing tissue to thoracic tissue is seen.
