Detailed Description

The brains of stiKG01697/Df(3L)E44 mutants have higher levels of polyploid cells than wild-type brains. However, the chromosomes of these cells are morphologically normal and the mitotic index is similar to wild type.

Stage 16 stiKG01697/Df(3L)iro-2 embryos have a modestly disrupted peripheral nervous system with some disorganisation of clusters and defects in axonal projections. In about 15 % of these embryos there is a loss of neurons and concomitant appearance of binucleate neurons.
