      Mutant males carrying one copy of αTub84B7.tHa and heterozygous for βTub85D3 or βTub85D8 displayed reduced fertility in mating tests: the aberrant proteins from βTub85D3 and βTub85D8 retain a residual function. αTub84B7.tHa/βTub85Dn male heterozygotes are sterile, even in the presence of a wild type copy of αTub84B, as for αTub84B7.
