microtubule & testis
The testes of homozygous males are characterised by complete lack of microtubule-dependent function in the postmitotic germ cells. There is also no evidence of meiotic spindle activity, the spermatid nuclei remain 4N and the spermatid head remains unshaped. The spermatid fails to elongate.
Affects microtubule function during spermatogenesis.
βTub85D3 has male sterile | dominant phenotype, enhanceable by wrl1
βTub85D3 is a suppressor of male sterile phenotype of βTub60D::βTub85Dstar
αTub84B7.tHa, βTub85D3 has fertile | male | reduced phenotype
βTub85D3 heterozygotes partially rescue the male sterile phenotype of males carrying βTub60D::βTub85Dstar; only a few motile sperm are present in the seminal vesicles.
Mutant males carrying one copy of αTub84B7.tHa and heterozygous for βTub85D3 display reduced fertility in mating tests: the aberrant protein from βTub85D3 retains a residual function.
Class I allele.
