Expression of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH in the developing eye results in ommatidial fusion.

Expression of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH produces flies with rough eyes. Little or no apoptosis is seen in third instar eye discs and differentiation of photoreceptors is largely normal.

Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH flies have small, rough eyes.

Flies expressing Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH have rough eyes. The second mitotic wave is absent in eye imaginal discs expressing Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH.

Flies expressing Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH have a severe rough eye phenotype. The number of cells entering S phase posterior to the morphogenetic furrow is severely reduced compared to wild-type.

Ommatidial architecture is irregular, and interommatidial bristle number is reduced to 15% of wild type. Almost all (more than 98%) of ommatidia have the full complement of photoreceptor cells, though only 13% were fully surrounded by pigment cells.

A Cdk7S164A.T170A mutant background does not suppress the ommatidial fusion found upon expression of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH in the developing eye.

Expression of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH rescues the cell death and R7 photoreceptor loss seen in p53GMR.Ex third instar larval eye discs. The adult eye ablation phenotype is also rescued.

The increased eye pigmentation in bwD/+ heterozygotes resulting from the mis-expression of Acf1EY08629 driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is not affected by Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH.

The increased eye pigmentation in bwD/+ heterozygotes resulting from the mis-expression of banunspecified driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is suppressed by Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH.

The increased eye pigmentation in bwD/+ heterozygotes resulting from the mis-expression of crolunspecified driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is suppressed by Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH.

The small, rough eye phenotype of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH flies is partially suppressed by pUf68EP3058/+ (the eyes are larger and contain fewer fused ommatidia). Compared with Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH, eye discs from Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH; , pUf68EP3058/+ animals have more S-phase cells posterior to the morphogenetic furrow, and an accompanying increase in mitotic cells. The small, rough eye phenotype of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH flies is enhanced by dmP0/+.

The small, rough eye phenotype of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH flies is partially suppressed by hfpEP3058/+ (the eyes are larger and contain fewer fused ommatidia). Compared with Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH, eye discs from Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH; hfpEP3058/+ animals have more S-phase cells posterior to the morphogenetic furrow, and an accompanying increase in mitotic cells. The small, rough eye phenotype of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH flies is enhanced by MycP0/+.

Expression of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH in homozygous EgfrE3 mutants does not prevent the apoptosis of undifferentiated cells in the eye disc that is seen in the EgfrE3 mutant background.

The Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH eye phenotype is dominantly suppressed by the addition of ebiunspecified. The resulting eyes are almost wild-type, showing minor bristle defects. ebiunspecified also partially rescues the loss of the second mitotic wave usually seen in Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH eye discs.

The eye phenotype produced by Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH is strongly suppressed by Df(1)AD11, Df(1)su(s)83, Rbf120a or Rbf14.

The Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH rough eye phenotype is suppressed by spenpoc361. The second mitotic wave is partially restored in Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH flies the presence of one copy of spenpoc361.

Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH;CycEJP double mutant flies have a more severe rough eye phenotype and greater reduction in the number of cells entering S phase posterior to the morphogenetic furrow than either Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH or CycEJP single mutant flies.

Expression of Hsap\CDKN1AGMR.PH, which blocks the second mitotic wave, in Gl1 mutants substantially reduces the number of mispositioned nuclei. Expression also causes substantial cell death behind the morphogenetic furrow in Gl1 mutants.
