Eggs laid by homozygous Vm26AbQJ42 females expressing Vm26AbC123S.C131S.C140S are collapsed and fail to hatch.

Eggs laid by Vm26AbQJ42/Df(2L)Exel7024 females expressing Vm26AbC123S.C131S are collapsed and fail to hatch.

Compared with wild-type , the hatching rate of eggs laid by homozygous Vm26AbQJ42 females expressing Vm26AbC123S.C140S is severely compromised. About half of the mutant eggs are collapsed and the remainder are slightly turgid, but clearly distinguishable from wild-type eggs.

Most of the eggs laid by Vm26AbQJ42/Df(2L)Exel7024 or homozygous Vm26AbQJ42 females expressing Vm26AbC131S are either collapsed or only slightly turgid and fail to hatch.

The hatching rate of Vm26AbC123S-expressing eggs derived from Vm26AbQJ42/Df(2L)Exel7024 females is somewhat lower than that of wild-type control.

Homozygous egg chambers show collapse of the endochorion in late oogenesis.

Eggs have a collapsed and flaccid shell due to the absence of a major vitelline membrane protein.
