Molecular polymorphisms at 0 to 1.0 and 14 to 17 kb.
Heterozygous mutants have significantly fewer circulating crystal cells.
Strong synergistic effects are seen in flies expressing HScer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4T113 and also carrying SerBd-3.
Heterozygotes exhibit loss of anterior wing margin material with associated bristles and hairs. SerBd-3/SerD transheterozygotes exhibit loss of distal wing margin material, similar to SerD heterozygotes. Heterozygotes with Serrev6-1 or Df(3R)Bd appear phenotypically identical to SerBd-3 heterozygotes Heterozygotes with Df(3R)Dl-BX6 are lethal (due in part to a second site lethal on the Ser chromosome), a 'cleaned up' e SerBd-3 chromosome when heterozygous with Df(3R)Dl-BX6 has reduced viability and survivors exhibit rough eyes, duplicated bristles and greatly reduced wing blades. Further replacement of proximal chromosomal regions (recombining P{lacZ-un3}Y488 insertion onto Ser chromosome) allows full viability when heterozygous with Df(3R)Dl-BX6, but still with severe wing phenotypes. Heterozygotes with SerBd-3, Df(3R)Dl-M2, Df(3R)Dl-BX12 and DlB2 are viable and exhibit a severe wing phenotype. SerBd-3/Ser+r83k transheterozygotes are pupal lethal.
Homozygotes die at the late embryo/early larval stage and exhibit defects in head structures, particularly in the development of the mouth hooks.
Heterozygotes with Ser+r83k die as pharate adults with abnormalities in the leg such as fusion of the femur and tibial segments and loss of the wing blade.
Flies exposed to the restrictive temperature between 48-96 hours AEL display a ripped wing phenotype. Overall shape of the wing is also affected, narrower spacing between the longitudinal veins.
Like SerBd-1 but more extreme; not overlapping wild type in stock. Balancers also reduced with no overlap. Partially suppressed by H. Schultz and Curry report recurrent small or welt-like eye effect that is not well understood but is in chromosome 3 and may be an effect of SerBd-3. SerBd-3/SerBd-1 lethal. Dominant wing phenotype.

The large nicks in the anterior wing margin observed in SerBd-3 heterozygous adult flies are exacerbated by combination with single copy of any of the following alleles: Kap-α3D93, Kap-α3D165 or Kap-α3S033513 leading to a substantial loss of wing material in the anterior part of the blade.
Heterozygous SerBd-3 flies exhibit a wing nicking phenotype. Heterozygous SerBd-3 enhances the wing nicking phenotype seen in mamN.Scer\UAS, Scer\GAL4C96.
Flies heterozygous for SerBd-3 and Dp(3;3)bxd110 have wing blades that are indistinguishable from those with normal Dl doses.
In combination with Nl93 or Df(1)N-54l9, SerBd-3/Ser+r83k escapers exhibit phenotypically normal eyes and legs but lack halteres and had wing blades one half normal size.
