The P{PZ}fray07551 insertion maps within both fray and CG7694 (transcription units with non-overlapping ORFs which share untranslated sequences).
The segmental nerves exhibit a frayed nerve phenotype - localised bulging and swellings are seen i the nerve. Defects range from mild bulging to immense bulges that exceed 300μm in length and 50μm in diameter.
Homozygotes die during the second larval instar stage. Embryos derived from homozygous female germ line clones show poor cuticle development.
Germline clones produce eggs with poor cuticle development.
fray[+]/fray07551 is a suppressor of visible phenotype of Scer\GAL4hh.PU, WnkEY10165
fray07551 is a suppressor of lethal phenotype of Ras85DV12.sev, sevS11.Tag:MYC
Ras85DV12.sev, fray07551, sevS11.Tag:MYC has viable phenotype
fray[+]/fray07551 is a suppressor of wing vein | ectopic phenotype of Scer\GAL4hh.PU, WnkEY10165
fray[+]/fray07551 is a suppressor of wing vein L4 phenotype of Scer\GAL4hh.PU, WnkEY10165
fray07551/+ partially suppresses the penetrance of the wing phenotypes (additional veins around vein 5 and delta phenotypes at vein 4) caused by expression of WnkEY10165 under the control of Scer\GAL4hh.PU.
The lethality caused by sevS11.T:Hsap\MYC in combination with Ras85DV12.sev is suppressed by fray07551.

FlyBase curator comment: Lethality described may be due to disruption of fray or overlapping CG7694 - both disrupted by FBti0005585.
