UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a form of Hsap\MAPT (human 0N4R tau, which has four tubulin-binding domains (R) at the C-terminal region and no N-terminal insert (N)) with alanine substitutions at Ser262 and Ser356, abolishing phosphorylation of these residues.

The expression of Hsap\MAPTS2A.UAS.0N4R under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU results in neurodegeneration (i.e. brain vacuolization) in 10-days old adults.

The expression of Hsap\MAPTS2A.Scer\UAS.0N4R under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU does not lead to frequent lamina vacuolization compared to controls.

Adults expressing Hsap\MAPTS2A.Scer\UAS.0N4R driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF do not show any obvious eye defects.
