Stripjam/Stripdogi mutants exhibit defective L3 male gonads: small gonads showing supernumerary strongly DAPI-positive cells throughout, whereas wild-type and Stripjam/+ control gonads exhibit brighter DAPI-stained DNA in the apical region of the tissue, where the GSCs, gonialblasts, TA spermatogonia, CySCs and CyCs reside.

Single-cell MARCM somatic clones of Stripdogi homozygous mutant DL1 projection neurons display defects in dendrite branching in the mushroom body and axon elongation (axons do not elongate or form the stereotypical branches in the lateral horn).

Stripdogi homozygous MARCM clones of mushroom body alpha/beta neurons display axon segregation phenotypes (less axons to the alpha lobe)

Mutant olfactory projection neurons (PNs) in neuroblast clones show severe defects in guidance and targeting, including ectopic innervation to the contralateral antennal lobe or the subesophageal ganglion.

Homozygous single-cell DL1 PN clones show defects in both the axons and dendrites. The axons do not elongate (98.2% penetrance) or form the normal L-shaped branches within the lateral horn. The dendrites have an additional branch appearing from the proximal side of the dendrite shaft (35.3% penetrance), resulting in targeting of two glomeruli instead of a single glomerulus.

The dendrite branching and axon elongation phenotypes observed in single-cell MARCM somatic clones of Stripdogi homozygous mutant DL1 projection neurons are significantly enhanced by expression of either TBCDdsRNA.shRNA.Scer\UAS RNAi or TBCDScer\UAS.cOa in the clones under the control of the Scer\GAL4GH146 driver. Some neurons show the 'extremely short axon' phenotype: the axon does not exit the antennal lobe at all.

The loss of alpha and beta lobes of the mushroom body observed in brains of adult flies expressing Dscam1exon17.2.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 is partially restored by combination with Stripdogi in heterozygous state.

The axon elongation and dendrite branching defects seen in Stripdogi DL1 olfactory projection neuron single-cell clones are more severe if the cells are also homozygous for Gl1. The axon fails to exit the antennal lobe in 15.6% of cases.

The axon elongation and dendrite branching defects seen in Stripdogi DL1 olfactory projection neuron single-cell clones are more severe if the cells are also expressing spridsRNA.shRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GH146. The axon fails to exit the antennal lobe in 13.0% of cases.

The axon elongation defect seen in Stripdogi DL1 olfactory projection neuron single-cell clones is partially suppressed if the cells are also expressing Rab5Q88L.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-YFP and is enhanced if the cells are also expressing Rab5S43N.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-YFP (expression driven by Scer\GAL4GH146 in each case).
