Detailed Description

fru^NP0021/fru^ΔC (but not fru^NP0021/fru^ΔA or fru^NP0021/fru^ΔB) MARCM clones (in Scer\GAL4^fru-NP0021 neurons) fail to develop a male-specific mAL ipsilateral neurite.

(Ito et al., 2016)

Homozygous male and female animals die as pupae.

The muscle of Lawrence forms in fru^ΔB/Df(3R)fru^4-40 males, as occurs in wild type.

Compared to controls, fru^ΔB/Df(3R)fru^4-40 males show a significant delay in latency to courtship and a significantly reduced courtship index towards females. Levels of copulation are also reduced, while those males that do mate are significantly delayed in the tim taken to successfully copulate. The males show normal levels of fertility over a one-week observation period. fru^ΔB/Df(3R)fru^4-40 males show some chaining behaviour (forming male-male courtship chains).

The interpulse interval of the courtship song is significantly longer than normal in fru^ΔB/Df(3R)fru^4-40 males.
