Transgenic flies co-expressing Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1>AxnScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG and AxnαTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG in addition to endogenous wild-type Axn show no visible defects in the bristle pattern or at the wing margin.
Transgenic flies expressing maternally deposited AxnαTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG in addition to endogenous Axn show no visible defects in adult structures including the wing, although AxnαTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG-expressing embryos show about 20% lower survival compared with wild-type animals.
The hatch rate of embryos expressing zygotic AxnαTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG is not significantly affected. The majority of embryos complete development and reach adulthood.
Maternal expression of AxnαTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG in AxnS044230 (maternal-/zygotic-) embryos restores the wild-type pattern of denticle belts. No ectopic denticles are present. Maternal expression of AxnS044230 allows AxnS044230 (maternal-/zygotic-) embryos to hatch.
Expression of AxnαTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG rescues both the viability and fertility of AxnE77. The rescued flies display normal wing margin.
