Partial duplication of Taf3. The upstream copy can potentially encode the first 679 amino acids of Taf3 followed by 14 unrelated residues. In addition 21bp (comprising approximately half an RS(I-SceI) site) have been inserted, which results in seven amino acids being inserted between amino acids 341 and 342. The downstream copy should be non-functional as it lacks a promoter and the first exon. A w+mW.hs marker (in inverted orientation with respect to direction of transcription of the Taf3 sequence) is inserted between the two copies.
No haltere to wing transformations are seen in homozygous bip2Fa4a mutant flies.
