Excision of P{GawB}BxMS1096 has resulted in a deletion that extends into exon 2 of Bx, removing 128bp from the 5'UTR. Part of the P{GawB} element is retained.

Flies homozygous or hemizygous for Bxhdp58-1 have held-up wings, with occasional defects in the cross-veins. The wings are small compared to wild type. Between 10 and 20% of flies are missing one or two bristles from the anterior pair of the four thoracic dorsocentral bristles. This is increased to >85% in Bxhdp58-1/Df(1)N19 females. Flies also show locomotor defects, having difficulty in standing and walking.
One copy of Bxhdp58-1 partially rescues the wing scalloping phenotype seen in Bx5-1/+ flies.
One copy of Bxhdp58-1 partially rescues the wing scalloping phenotype seen in Bx2/+ flies.
Bxhdp58-1 has visible | adult stage phenotype, enhanceable by pnr[+]/pnrVX6
Bxhdp58-1 has visible | adult stage phenotype, enhanceable by pnrMD237/pnr[+]
Bxhdp58-1 is a non-suppressor of visible | adult stage phenotype of ChiE
Bxhdp58-1/Bx[+], ac1 has visible | adult stage phenotype
Bxhdp58-1 has anterior dorsocentral bristle phenotype, enhanceable by pnr[+]/pnrVX6
Bxhdp58-1 has anterior dorsocentral bristle phenotype, enhanceable by pnrMD237/pnr[+]
Bxhdp58-1 is a non-suppressor of anterior dorsocentral bristle phenotype of ChiE
Bxhdp58-1/Bx[+], ac1 has anterior dorsocentral bristle phenotype
One copy of pnrVX6 enhances the dorsocentral bristle loss seen in hemizygous Bxhdp58-1 mutant males. 90% of flies lack the anterior pair of bristles.
One copy of pnrMD237 enhances the dorsocentral bristle loss seen in hemizygous Bxhdp58-1 mutant males. 90% of flies lack the anterior pair of bristles.
Flies carrying one copy of ac1 and one copy of Bxhdp58-1 lack the anterior dorsocentral bristles. No phenotypes are observed in either heterozygote alone.
Flies carrying one copy of Chie5.5 and one copy of Bxhdp58-1 have a wild type number of dorsocentral bristles.
Bxhdp58-1 does not suppress the anterior dorsocentral bristle loss seen in ChiE/+ mutant flies.
